There wouldn't have been any problem with there being a black Bond up until Skyfall. They could have quite easily written it as though "James Bond" was a code name for a particular agent, hence him changing appearance every few films!
Then they gave Bond a whole backstory in Skyfall. The family home, the photos of him as a kid and the family cemetery. Yes people get re-cast in sequels commonly, but I don't think I've seen a character change race between films.
James Norton who was the looney in Happy Valley was favourite a couple of months ago, think he'd do a good job. Was excellent in that programme.

No its not to do with racism. Its to do with the actor fulfilling the requirement to make the character believable and as accurate to the story. A black actor will not do this.
It's like casting a white actor to play the story of Pele.......it just wouldn't work.

It has nothing to do with the PC parade and everything to do with being slightly racist.
I remember that Crystal Palace chairmen Ron Noades claiming that Black players have no Intelligence and can just run quickly and that white players are needed for the brains, this for me is a bit like that.
The Father Christmas idea was about a greek man born in Turkey and Jesus born in the middle east too and have both been portrayed as white with blue eyes and nobody cares or bats an eyelid .
Cleopatra again portrayed as white many times is an Egyptian I think that is true bull shit argue about them before fictional characters.

Andy Murray is an actual Super hero, someone who is real and has achieved things that no average mortal could dream about due to his physical ability and skill.
Bond is just an actor who has to remember his lines and in many cases has stunt men performing the exciting dangerous parts of a movie.
No competition really.

It's a fictional character that wouldn't be as believable if it was a black actor for me. I would sit there watching it thinking he has satisfied the PC brigade rather then being the man best suited to play James Bond

You do realise that James bond is a Fictional character right?.
The original novels for James Bond and what goes on in the films for the last 20 years are chalk and cheese, not really similar at all, why because the world has moved on.
In America if you had told people there would be a black President just 20 years ago people would have laughed in your face .
The way you are talking mashed is as if a persons colour changes everything about their being, and long ago that would have been true but these days you can have black people who have aspirations speak act and dream just like white people do,
